MedTouch Nominated 2005 Finalist for MITX Awards
Cambridge, MA – October, 2005 – Today MedTouch announced that it had been nominated as a 2005 finalist for the prestigious MITX Awards by the Massachusetts Innovation and Technology Exchange (MITX) for a unique interactive map solution developed by MedTouch on behalf of the Montefiore Medical Center, in New York City. The nomination is in the "Healthcare" general category. The map can be viewed at www.montefiore.org/guide.
"We are excited to be named a finalist in this competition," said Jason Smith, Creative Director at MedTouch. "The other finalists have created some beautiful solutions, and we're honored to have our work recognized."
The interactive map is a Flash-based application integrated with the site's database. The map was developed as part of an overall web site redesign for the medical center. Way-finding was a major issues at Montefiore. With two campuses spread over six miles, each with multiple hospitals, finding your way is extremely challenging. The map solves this problem by:
- Providing an overview of the entire region
- Multiple ways to find buildings – from a pull down list and through clicking on the map
- Color coding the different campuses
- Providing addresses and photos for each building for easy visual recognition
- In some cases providing downloadable directions
The color-coding scheme set out in the map is carried through over 40 pages of an online patient guide written and designed by MedTouch as a part of the web site redesign to help reinforce the geography of the campuses. Because the map is integrated with the database, the marketing team can easily update the map, photos, and directions.
Winners will be announced at the 10th Annual MITX Awards Ceremony on November 2nd at the Boston Copley Place Marriott.
